This week we have delved deeper into our topic of Victorians. In English, we have finished our biographies on Charles Darwin, detailing the events of his life and explaining why he has had such a lasting impact on the modern world. In topic, we’ve looked at Victorian cities and what life was like for the children who lived (and worked) there. We’ve also looked at how the geography of Britain has changed from the Victorian era to modern day, and why different uses for land have created very different types of landscape. We compared maps of Waterbeach from the late-1800s to the present day and identified changes, as well as discussing what we think caused them.
