Foundation Stage

Welcome to the Foundation Stage Class Page.

Here you will be able to find out what we are learning at school.

Exciting things the children will be learning in the Summer term…

Our first topic in the Summer Term will be Jack and the Beanstalk. For our Jack and the Beanstalk topic we have many exciting activities planned. This includes reading lots of different versions of the story, learning songs about the story and role playing in our very own giant’s castle. We also hope to grow our own beanstalks and a range of vegetables in the garden.

Our second topic in the Summer Term will be Dinosaurs. For our Dinosaur topic we have many exciting activities planned including finding out what happened to the dinosaurs, facts about dinosaurs as well as creating our own volcano which we hope to make erupt.

For our final topic of the Summer term we will be learning about lots of different Mini-beasts and hope to grow our own butterflies as well as search for, collect and create habitats for many other mini-beasts. We will also find out about the life cycles of different mini-beasts. A story we will focus on will be The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Through this we will learn about how to eat healthily and look after our bodies.

We will also be talking a lot about the transition into year one and spending lots of time ensuring the children are happy and ready for September.

Swimming will begin this term. It usually begins in the second half term but we will provide you with more information after Easter. Swimming will happen twice a week and therefore our Forest School timetable will be changing. More information will be sent out closer to the time.
